I like our Kindness Elf activities to be as fun and memorable as possible. It’s always great when kids have fun making a difference. To keep things extra fun, we again used some super-fun tools for doing good … the Kindness Elves and Pete the Cat. They were here to encourage participation in a food and toy drive.

Pete the Cat’s Messages
My whole family loves Pete the Cat. He’s silly, fun, very groovy, and has good messages for kids (and adults) in his books. His songs are fun and very catchy.
Pete the Cat Saves Christmas has a wonderful message and song that runs through the book:
“Give it your all, give it your all.
At Christmas we give,
so give it your all.”
Again this year, we used the Kindness Elves and Pete the Cat to inspire the idea of “giving it your all.”
Last year, the Kindness Elves met Pete the Cat with a note that said “Let’s go to the food and toy drive with Pete the Cat and give it our all!”

The Kindness Elves with Pete the Cat: “Let’s get ready for a food and toy drive!”
Our Pete the Cat Saves Christmas Doll was waiting with our Kindness Elves to read Pete the Cat Saves Christmas. I like to start the year’s readings listening to the Harper Collins sing-along version of the book and singing along with the song.

Getting Ready for the Food and Toy Drive with the Kindness Elves and Pete the Cat
Next, the Kindness Elves and Pete the Cat joined my 3-year-old granddaughter, Zoey, in preparing for the food and toy drive. We chose healthy, non-perishable foods and a Montessori-friendly toy that Zoey loves.
Off to the Salvation Army Food and Toy Drive
Ready for the Food and Toy Drive!
Zoey loves this activity! Last year, Pete the Cat and the Kindness Elves even came with us. This year, they just helped with the preparations.
This year, Zoey, Christina (Zoey’s aunt), Tom (Christina’s husband and Zoey’s uncle), and I went on the food and toy drive adventure while I was watching Zoey. (Tom took the photos.)
Bringing the Food and a Toy to the Salvation Army Table
Zoey loves giving the gifts to the Salvation Army volunteers. She even visits with them and gives them hugs.
A Christmas Photo to Complete Our Day
I love that making a difference can be so much fun! 🙂

This is unique and sounds wonderful!
This article is wonderful. First, I think Montessori method is extremely helpful, children acquire great motor skills, also, learning values from a very young age is central to create a better society. The fact that it teaches them about solidarity in a very entertaining way assures us that the little one will remember the experience and incorporate this into his everyday life.
