October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I’m excited to be part of the Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team in the fight against breast cancer! My mom is a breast cancer survivor (over 5 years now!), and the Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team is participating in the Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure November 2 in honor of my mom.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

In 2012, the Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team consisted of my daughter, Christina, and my daughter-in-law, Chea. Last year, the Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team couldn’t participate because of my granddaughter’s birth. This year, I’m lucky to be a San Diego resident. Zoey will be 1 year old on November 2, so we’re having a special birthday celebration on Zoey’s birthday by participating in the 2014 Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure!

Here’s the link to our Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team page. Komen is an amazing organization, and we’re thrilled to be part of its fundraising efforts. If you’d like to donate to Susan G. Komen through our team page, we’d really appreciate it! (Note: Even when the race is finished, you can still donate through the Fabulous Chitwood Ladies Team. As long as our page is still up, your donation will go directly to Susan G. Komen.)

Great post Deb! I enjoyed reading this article and I couldn’t be more thankful for you for posting it. When I read about your mother being a breast cancer survivor, I immediately connected with you. My grandmother is a survivor as well and has been for nearly 12 years now! She had to undergo surgery and chemo treatments, which led to a tough year… but she has survived and I couldn’t be more proud of her as a woman and proving her strength to the world but to all her family as well. Thanks again for the post Deb, I really liked it.
