Except when we skied a lot as a family living in Colorado, I was never a winter person. You can probably tell by the fact that we now live in San Diego … my favorite place to live. Still, I love quotes, there are some wonderful things about winter, and there are some great winter quotes.
Here are my favorite winter quotes:
“I pray this winter be gentle and kind–a season of rest from the wheel of the mind.” John Geddes
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” Anne Bradstreet
“In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” Albert Camus
In the middle of winter I at last discovered that there was in me an invincible summer.” Albert Camus, L’été
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
“No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.” Hal Borland
“If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?” Percy Bysshe Shelley
“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it.” John Burroughs
“He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter.” John Burroughs
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” Edith Sitwell
“I love the scents of winter! For me, it’s all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread and spruce.” Taylor Swift
“One kind word can warm three winter months.” Japanese Proverb
“There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.” Celia Thaxter
