The Lizzie Velasquez story breaks my heart … and makes it sing at the same time. I’m horrified at the way Lizzie was bullied. And I’m thankful that she was brave enough to overcome it.

I published this post in 2015 when the documentary about Lizzie Velasquez, A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story, was released in theaters. I’m updating it and republishing it today because Lizzie needs our help. Please read Lizzie’s story and below it to see the disturbing new trend that needs to be stopped.
The Lizzie Velasquez Story
26-year-old Lizzie Velasquez has always had a rare disorder that won’t allow her to gain weight. After being bullied in school, she was bullied even worse online. As a teenager, she discovered a YouTube video calling her “The World’s Ugliest Woman” along with hundreds of hateful comments.
Lizzie Velasquez fought back through forgiveness and courage, advocating acceptance. She’s now a motivational speaker and author. She has a hugely popular YouTube channel. She’s an advocate for national anti-bullying campaigns.
