Zumbathon Fun and Fitness for CharityToday, I officially become a California girl when the moving truck arrives with our belongings from Colorado Springs! Before permanently moving to San Diego, I was lucky to spend much of the winter in San Diego. One of the events I was able to attend while in San Diego was a Zumbathon on November 22.

My daughter, Christina, from Fit Body Full Life and Christina Chitwood Performance, attended the Zumbathon with me. My daughter-in-law, Chea, probably would have attended with us except that she became a new mom in the beginning of November.

The ticket fees from the Zumbathon we attended were used as a benefit to help cure ALS. You can find a list of Zumbathons around the country at Zumba Fitness. The Zumbathon Christina and I attended was led by Gina Grant, our favorite instructor on the Zumba DVDs.

Our Zumbathon was scheduled for 1 hour but was actually 1 hour and 20 minutes. The pace was fast and didn’t have breaks, so you’ll definitely want to plan ahead if you attend a Zumbathon. Check out the length of the Zumbathon you’ll attend and bring plenty of liquids.

There were chairs in the San Diego Convention Center room where the Zumbathon was held, so we could have taken rest breaks. Christina and I didn’t take any breaks, but you’ll definitely want to plan for breaks if you attend a longer Zumbathon.

Zumba is one of my favorite fitness workouts, so I had a great time. It was especially nice to know that my fitness fun was helping an important cause at the same time. I hope to attend another Zumbathon in the future.

I’d love to hear if you attend a Zumbathon!

Look fun! Our city provides free Zumba sessions during weekends at our local park.

I’ve never actually joined one because I get too self-conscious. 🙂

But I may just give it a try one weekend.

Wow this is great! I just attended a Zumba class this past week and was blown away by how much fun it actually was. I think what really does it for me is being around the other people, which not only is fun but really motivates you to do the best you can. I will have to attend a Zumbathon, but unfortunately I’m not close to where you are (Maybe some travel is in my future?)

    Thanks for sharing!
