Whether you celebrate Christian Christmas, secular Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or winter solstice, Christmas quotes can add inspiration to your life. Many Christmas quotes are simply about the spirit of Christmas – a universal aspiring toward “peace on earth, goodwill toward men.”
There are quotes of inspiration for wondering, giving, making a difference, family, loving others … and some about being happy and enjoying life. To keep these quotes meaningful for anyone at Christmas, I’m omitting any quotes from the Bible.
Aside from Luke 2, here are my favorite Christmas quotes:
“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” Norman Vincent Peale
“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” Hamilton Wright Mabi
“Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.” Oren Arnold“A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world!” Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol
“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.” W. T. Ellis
“Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” Dale Evans Rogers
“At Christmas play, and make good cheer, For Christmas comes but once a year.” Thomas Tusser“Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind.” Mary Ellen Chase
“Christmas is the day that holds all time together.” Alexander Smith
“Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.” Peg Bracken.
“At Christmas, all roads lead home.” Marjorie Holmes
“It comes every year and will go on forever. And along with Christmas belong the keepsakes and the customs. Those humble, everyday things a mother clings to, and ponders, like Mary in the secret spaces of her heart.” Marjorie Holmes
“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” Charles Schulz
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more.” Dr. Seuss in How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
“Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance – each beautiful, unique and too soon gone.” Deborah Whipp
“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” Roy L. Smith
“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.” Burton Hillis
“Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.” Larry Wilde
“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.” Agnes M. Pharo
“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” Edna Ferber
“Look, Daddy. Teacher says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.” From the movie It’s A Wonderful Life
“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” Janice Maeditere
“Peace on earth will come to stay, When we live Christmas every day.” Helen Steiner Rice“When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things – not the great occasions – give off the greatest glow of happiness.” Bob Hope
“I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old, familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men!” Longfellow“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Buddy from the movie Elf
“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.” Francis P. Church, Editorial Page of The New York Sun, 1897
“HOOOO… HOOO… HOO…” – Department store Santa Claus from the movie A Christmas Story
“’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring – not even a mouse: The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.” Clement C. Moore“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol.

Thanks, Peter! That’s one of my favorites, too.
One of my favorite quote would be by Oren Arnold:
“Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.”
A truly wonderful quotes that share a lot of wisdom about relationship. 🙂
