I love the Joseph Wood Krutch quote “Happiness is itself a kind of gratitude.” It’s a great reminder that for most of us, happiness is a choice. I realize that for someone who’s grieving or suffering from depression, happiness isn’t a choice. But for many, it’s a way of looking at things, a way of feeling gratitude.
August is Happiness Happens Month. It’s true that the choice of being happy has been made more difficult with recent news. The Society of Happy People (hosts of Happiness Happens Month each August) has a helpful post with this year’s title: “Happiness Happens Month Counters Negative Effects of Chaotic News.”
Happiness Word-Art Freebie
I created a word art freebie based on the quote “Happiness is itself a kind of gratitude.”
For printing, feel free to download the word art freebie without watermark. If you’d like to share the image online, please use the image with the watermark. Of course, I always appreciate when you link to my post and Facebook page, too.
To download word art as a horizontal image, click here, then right click on the image and choose “Save Picture As . . .”
For a square image, click here, then right click on the image and choose “Save Picture As…”
Happiness, Gratitude, and Mindfulness Ideas and Resources
Happiness often comes from gratitude and mindfulness. Here are some helpful resources:,

For mindfulness ideas and resources, see my mindfulness posts here.
Note: I’m not saying that we should ignore problems. I hope we all work to change the world for the better. But we’ll need to use gratitude and mindfulness to help us survive and find some happiness in the meantime.
